The action continued over the weekend in the Amerith Rocky Rai Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament with Jermain Maxwell highlighting the latest round with an unbeaten 127.
At Meten-Meer-Zorg West, Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Club beat Windsor Forest by 18 runs. Batting first, Meten-Meer-Zorg Cricket Club scored 156-5 in 20 overs. Rabindra Dasrat scored 51 runs from 40 balls, with 6 fours and 2 sixes. He was supported by Kevin Coleman with 21 runs, and Mahendra Nandkishore’s 46 not out, which included 4 sixes and 3 fours.
Bowling for Windsor Forest, Mohan Chaitram with 2-13 was the most successful bowler. Windsor Forest managed 138-7 in 20 overs, as Lalta Suknanan top scored with 32 runs, Doodnauth Dhanraj scored 27 runs and Deoram Chanderbir supporting with 26 runs in a losing cause.
Bowling for Meten-Meer-Zorg Cicket Club, Nandkishore returned with his left arm spin to pick up 2 – 7, even as Vishal Jaigobin picked up 2-32.
In the second match, Meten-Meer-Zorg beat Leguan by 155 runs with a score of 232-2. Captain Jermain Maxwell scored the fourth century at Meten-Meer-Zorg West in the competition with a shot-filled 127 not out from 68 balls, which included 7 sixes and 13 fours. He was well supported by Sheldon Alexander who scored 68 runs, with 3 sixes and 6 fours. The 8 man Leguan Team was never in the game, as they were bowled out for 75 runs. Sham Persaud top scored with 30 runs, and Wazir Ali contributed 17 runs. Sheldon Alexander’s 2-18 and Timur Mohamed’s 2-15 sealed the Victory for Meten-Meer-Zorg Future Youths.
At the Zeeburg cricket ground, Zeeburg beat Saw Pit by 8 wickets. Batting first, Saw Pit were bowled out for 91 runs in 18.1 overs. Zafar Khan top scored with 30 runs. Bowling for Zeeburg, Reylex Payne was good with the ball, picking up 4 -14. Malcolm Hubbard and Utesh Dhanpaul snared 2 wickets each, for 13 and 27 respectively.
Zeeburg, in reply, raced to 92 for 2 in 16.2 overs. Mark Jeffers’s 36 out and Balbinder Shivpersaud’s 34 not out saw Zeeburg to victory.
At Canal #2 Sports Club, Rising Stars A beat Christ Ambassadors by one wicket. Batting first, Christ Ambassadors scored 113 runs for 9, with Damian Ross top scoring with 40 runs, including 2 sixes and 4 fours, and Melroy Albert 21 runs.
Bowling for Rising Stars, Marvin Cheong with 4 -14 and Shane Persaud with 2 -16 were impressive with the ball. In reply, Rising Stars reached the target in 16.3 overs, Cheong returned with the bat to score 34 runs. Bowling for Christ Ambassadors, Emmanuel Martin bagged 2 -24 while Joel Thomas chipped in with 2 -12.
In the second fixture, Canal Sports Club beat Dynasty by 51 runs. Batting first, Canal Sports Club scored 175 for 6, with Chabiraj Ramcharran top scoring with 54 and Tejpaul Persaud 31 runs. Bowling for Dynasty was Brian Puran with 2 – 26.
Dynasty, in reply, scored 124 for 7, as Robin Singh’s 19 runs and Devindra Ramdial’s 16 runs weren’t enough to save Dynasty.
Bowling for Canal Sports Club, Narendra Persaud with 3 -20 and Seecharran Persaud with 2 -14 were good with the ball for Canal #2 Sports Club.
