A 53-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening after he was found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession at Kurupukari Crossing, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Police stated that on the day in question at about 18:40h, ranks acting on information received contacted the suspect, who is the driver of minibus BWW 8540, and told him of the allegation.
As a result, a search was conducted on the minibus and a large brown parcel was found in the back seat which contained a quantity of the narcotic.
Another black well-taped parcel was also found concealed in a compartment within the minibus.
The driver was cautioned, arrested and taken to the Lethem Police Station along with the suspected cannabis. He has been placed into custody pending investigations.
