Minibus driver charged for stealing passenger’s phone

A minibus driver who reportedly stole a passenger’s phone was on Monday slapped with a larceny charge and appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Joseph Aaron denied the charge which stated that on October 30, he stole a cellular phone belonging to Theresa Atkins.
The prosecution’s case stated that Aaron was given a cellular phone to charge in his vehicle at the minibus park on Robb Street and Avenue of the Republic, by Atkins, who was a passenger in the bus. However, when she asked for the phone when she reached her destination, the driver reportedly claimed that he did not know what happened to the phone. As such, a report was made to the Police and again, the driver was unable to account for the phone.
In court on Monday, Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield did not object to bail. Aaron was released on ,000 bail.
