Bus driver remanded for stabbing woman 23 times

The minibus driver who stabbed the mother of his child 23 times, was on Tuesday remanded to prison after appearing at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Uttanpad Sewnaraine, 39, Lot 55 Campbellville, Georgetown, shared a relationship with the Virtual Complainant, Selina Ramotar, which produced a daughter.
Sewnaraine was not require to plea to the indictable charge which stated that on July 9 at David Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Ramotar with the intent to commit murder.
The case was adjourned until July 29.
According to reports, on the night in question, Ramotar had just returned home after visiting a nearby grocery store when her attacker, who was parked in front of her home, asked for her to give him a few minutes of her time.
It was reported that shortly afterwards, family members heard screams and noticed Ramotar lying on the ground with the father of her child bent over her while seemingly punching her. The Police were told that upon further investigation, they noticed that the woman was stabbed. She was subsequently rushed to a city hospital where she remains a patient.
