Miss Berbice 2019 pageant launch and sashing ceremony for Saturday at Albion Sports Complex

The most anticipated pageant in the ancient county, Miss Berbice—I’m a BIG deal beauty & empowerment pageant returns for its 3rd edition this year and promises to be bigger and better.
The Miss Berbice Pageant is more than the beauty, glitz, and glam, it is about women empowerment and using the stage to confront and change the issues that continue to plague Berbicians in their day-to-day lives.
The 2019 delegates are undergoing training under the watchful eyes of professional pageant trained Miss Shenelly Kendall as they prepare for the sashing ceremony set for Saturday, October 19 at the Main Hall of the Albion Sports Complex ground on the Corentyne.
This year’s pageant will be held in four-segments, starting with the sashing ceremony, followed by the swimwear, then costume competition, the home and public impression of delegates to the organisers and trainers and finally the main event which will focus on the delegates, talent, evening gowns, and intelligence, according to pageant coordinator Tracey Khan.
As part of the mandate of the pageant, the delegates would have to be involved in community projects to raise awareness on their platform. The platforms chosen are topical and include issues like crime, suicide, domestic violence, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy among others.
After the sashing, the young ladies will prepare for the Swimsuit and Costume Competition on November 23 and the curtain will come down with the crowning of a new queen on Saturday, November 30 at the Albion Sports Complex ground.
Over $500,000 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs. The event is promoted by Royston Drakes Production.
