More than 200 races are expected at the Rose Hall Canje Airstrip on Sunday, October 11, as the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) stages its Berbice Invasion Drag Race Meet.

The club says preparations are in place for the event, with qualifying scheduled to begin at 10:00h and elimination rounds set for 12:15h. Organisers have also reported encouraging interest from fans across Berbice.
A GMR&SC spokesman said a team had been working at the venue for three days, with installation of the timing system scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Preparations have involved coordination with the Guyana Fire Service, Guyana Police Force, sponsors and support staff.
The spokesman explained that organisers had re-established contact with some service providers to put the necessary support arrangements in place. He expressed confidence in the preparations and optimism about the turnout, pointing to interest from residents throughout the county.
To accommodate spectators, organisers have identified four parking areas, which will have signs and directions to guide arriving motorists. Ticket booths will operate in each area, allowing patrons to purchase tickets before entering the venue.
Shuttle buses will carry spectators from the parking areas to the airstrip, with return transport available after the event. General and VIP parking areas will be designated, while no-parking zones will be enforced.
The club is asking patrons to follow directions from security personnel and parking attendants to help maintain order around the venue.
Firearms, other weapons, outside food and drinks, and unauthorised vending are prohibited. Organisers have also warned against reckless driving outside the drag strip and illegal parking. Spectators and their vehicles may be subject to security checks.
The meet is organised by the GMR&SC, with support from sponsors including ENet, Tropical Shipping, Castrol, GuyOil, and KFC.
