Morgan’s Learning Institute notched their third win in as many matches as they disposed of Tucville Secondary 7-1 on Sunday in the fifth annual Petra Organised Milo under-18 School’s Football Championships.
Playing at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Leon Richardson continued his rich goal scoring form, prowess recording a hat-trick with goals coming in the 16th, 36th and 70th minute.
He was supported by Osafo Matheson, Alistair Frank, Carl Griffith and Daniel Nedd who scored in the 18th, 24th, 45th and 58th minute respectively. For the youthful Tucville side, Darren Daly netted in the 53rd minute.
Similarly, Pure Masters downed St. John’s College 5-0. Jamain Simon netted a brace in the sixth and 56th minutes while Alton Benn, Daniel Dorway and Junior Andrews netted in the 13th, 26th and 55th minutes respectively.
Former winners, Lodge Secondary overcame a 0-2 deficit to draw 2-2 with Kingston Secondary.
Terrence John and Shawn Innis scored in the eighth and 28th minutes respectively for Kingston. For Lodge, Rickie Stuart and Shamar Dover scored in the 68th and 70th minute respectively.
East Ruimveldt edged St. Mary’s 2-1. Trevon Bailey and Tony Nelson scored in the 23rd and 67th minute respectively.
On target in the loss was Michael Damion in the sixth minute.
The 32 teams are competing in a round-robin format of eight group of four teams. Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers in each group will advance to the elimination round.
Winner of the tourney will receive $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth placed sides will pocket $300,000,$200,000 and $100,000 respectively towards a school project.
The event is which is slated to conclude April 23rd is also supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Health with an emphasis on Gender Based Violence.
