Motie delighted with batting rewards after hard work

Guyanese cricketer Gudakesh Motie is enjoying the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with his new franchise, Barbados Tridents.
Motie sent Tridents into the play-offs with an unbeaten 17 from eight balls and he claimed 2-7 in his Player-of-the-Match effort against Jamaica Kingsmen.
The man from Berbice said he has been putting in a lot of work on his batting, and he is delighted that it is paying off.
“All-round performance by my team. In the last over, a message was sent out for me to play all six deliveries. I’ve been doing a lot of work on my batting. Happy it’s paying off now. We know how important this game was,” Motie said.

The 31-year-old also analysed the surface and noted that there was little purchase for spinners.
“Thanks to the crowd for coming out and supporting us. We know the pitch had a little for the spinners. Was trying to hit my areas and not bowl too fast. When you were bowling fast, it was skidding on,” Motie said.
This is Motie’s first CPL where he is not playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors. After nine matches, he has 13 wickets at a strike rate of 13, his best striking in his CPL career.
