Motorcyclist fractures skull in Kwakwani accident

A motorcyclist is hospitalised with a fractured skull following an accident on the Kwakwani Trail, Upper Berbice River, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Police said the accident occurred on Sunday morning between a motorbike and a minibus.
Injured is Glenton Lyte of Hururu Mission, Berbice River. A passenger of the minibus also received minor injuries, Police said.
Reports are that the accident occurred sometime about 04:30h as minibus BXX 4445 was proceeding north at a moderate speed on the Kwakwani Trail. As the driver approached Bamboo Road, he put on his indicator to turn right into the said road, however, as he was negotiating the turn, he claimed he felt an impact at the rear of his minibus.
He then stopped and exited his vehicle, and went to the rear and saw extensive damages to his vehicle. A few feet away, an unregistered motorcycle was on the road with extensive damages to the front and the rider was lying on the road’s surface with a red substance that appeared to be blood coming out from his mouth and nose, the driver said in his statement to Police.
Meanwhile, the passenger seated in the rear seat of the said minibus received injuries about his body also.
The minibus driver picked up the motorcyclist in an unconscious state, and along with the injured passenger, took them to the Kwakwani Hospital Complex where they were both seen and examined by a doctor. They were both transferred to Linden Hospital Complex for further medical attention but because of the injures the motorcyclist received, he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
