Moving…across the aisle

They talk about rats deserting sinking ships!! But what are the rats supposed to do?? Go down willingly with the ship?? Ain’t that the job of the Captain?? And the last time your Eyewitness checked, he didn’t see anyone criticising the humans who insist women and children get first dibs on lifeboats when the ship is going down!! So let’s face the facts: all animals – much less humans!! – have a survival instinct when faced with death. They’re gonna do whatever it takes to live and see another day!!
So, when your Eyewitness saw the news that another seven high-profile members of the PNC/APNU – former MPs Rickey Ramsaroop and Dinesh Jaiprashad, ex-Chairman Shurwayne Holder – as well as current Regional Councillors Ravoldo Birbal, Sheikh Yaseen, Prince Holder, and Gangadai Lloyd – waltzed over to the PPP, he didn’t give them much mind. He was more interested in the sinking ship – the PNC!! It seems that these seven had finally come around to accepting that after their party had taken such a drubbing from a rank newcomer – and a gold-smuggling, OFAC-sanctioned one at that!! – this ship was headed towards Davy Jones’s locker!! And since the PPP were offering lifeboats, they didn’t want to repeat the fate of the doomed passengers of the Titanic!!
Now, unlike those passengers like Bond and Walton-Desir who’d scampered off even before the MV PNC had hit that iceberg last September 1, these worthies had remained aboard!! Clearly, they’d expected Captain Norton to take measures to fix the extensive damage that had seen two-thirds of the ship disappear. And clearly his deputisation of rank (ranked??!!) outsiders Black Pudding Man and Fried Chicken Man as fixers didn’t go down well with them!!
Here it was, Black Pudding Man kept harping about “race, race, race” as his proposed strategy for the PNC to rebuild!! The trouble was, he was stuck like a broken record in the past!! The PPP had undercut the racial discrimination card by opening up their fuel-fuelled development to all races – especially the erstwhile Afro-based traditional PNC base!! Captain Norton was basically ensuring the PNC would keep imploding – to eventually disappear into a black hole!! Chicken Man is yet to even get Parliament convened for him to steer the battered MV PNC!!
So how did Captain Aubrey react to the departures?? He snickered – no problemo!! Rejecting the recent advice of PNC technocrat Armstrong, he insisted the departees were driven by personal reasons – read: opportunism!! They wanted to share in the PPP’s largesse, which the PNC didn’t have to hand out!! And anyhow, opposition parties often face defections when out of power!! So there!
What this means for our politics is the PNC’s on the way to join the dinosaurs!!

…to annex Venezuela
There’s the old Guyanese folk wisdom, “Do fuh do na obeah”!! As Venezuela keeps working with increased energy – first under Mad Maduro and now with Dangerous Delcy – to annex our Essequibo, up comes US President Trump declaring on Saturday that he was “seriously considering” annexing the ENTIRE VENEZUELA!!! Following Delirious Delcy’s recent flaunting of a brooch with Essequibo appended to a map of Venezuela, President Trump likewise displayed a map of Venezuela overlaid with an American flag and labelled “51st State”!!
Now Devious Delcy had been blithely talking crap about rejecting the ICJ’s jurisdiction to pronounce on her gangsterism in Essequibo! And because she’s giving in to President Trump on exploiting Venezuela’s resources – thought they were besties!! She now huffed: “We will continue defending the integrity, the sovereignty, the independence, and our history, which is a history of glories of men and women that gave their lives to make sure that we were not colonies but our independent country”!!
Who will she run to now??
