Multitalented Adesh Rambharose: making his mark in the creative arena

By Lakhram Bhagirat

At just 26 years old, Adesh Rambharose is already cementing his place as one of the foremost names in the creative area. To say that he is just talented would be an understatement since he is a youth with many talents.

The young Hubu, East Bank Essequibo native is not only a full-time checker at LSH Sawmill in Parika but he is also a playwriter, director, dancer, event planner and photographer. The hats are many and he wears them all with a sense of pride and understanding of the impact he is making.
Rambharose started Magic’s Touch Décor a few years ago with the intention following his passion for event planning and decorating. He has always had a knack for it and was encouraged to pursue it since at that time he saw the need for the service.
Rewinding on his journey, the young man said that his modus operandi is taken from his humble beginnings in Hubu village. He was one with nature and enjoyed the simplest of things while growing up since at that time, they did not have electricity and internet connection to keep them “housed up.”
He would getaway to the farms and have bush cooks, go swimming and fishing with the family and his friends. On the times where he went with his friends and would not get back home on time, he knew a stick and his mother was waiting for him at the door.
He relishes those memories because they symbolise a time where he was carefree and had the freedom to explore the world. For him, those memories are what form the foundation of his creative platforms and he uses them to fuel his drive to represent elegance most simplistically.
“Over the years, GTT and GPL decided to extend their services in the village and at that time, the excitement of having a landline was the best. We used to be sitting waiting on it to ring so we could answer.
“I attended Blake Primary School and then Uitvlugt Secondary School where I completed my secondary education. During our primary school days, we started out in stage plays and it was always an exciting time when we heard that there would be a show or a mela. It was then that I fell in love with the stage,” he recounted.

Rambharose’s Sundays were spent in his Temple where he played an active part in worshipping and organising. He was given the creative freedom to decorate and lead his fellow youths on a path to volunteerism and social work.
They formed the Conquerors Youth Group where they participated in many activities across the country.
So, in 2012, the young leader gathered his fellow youths and decided it was time that he actively pushed his love for the theatre. He entered the National Drama Festival with his own production called “I should have been there”. His first showing was dubbed a major success since the play won several accolades ranging from Best Written and Directed Play, Best Costume, Best Set, Best Actor, Best Actress. They were also the runners up in the Best Performing Cast and Best Production category.

The play was centred around the issues of abuse, peer pressure and family.
Over the years, he put on a number of other productions, winning even more accolades.
He did not just stop with plays though; he went on to find other areas in the creative arts that he loved. Rambharose is an avid dancer as well and has danced in several local productions with many dance troupes.

Photography and Event Planning
The young man has always had a love for photography and remembered taking photos of any and everything that interested him. He first started with his camera phones and then moved on to his first Sony digital camera. Today, he is one of the many photographers around.

As it relates to the Magic’s Touch Décor, Rambharose has always been involved in planning and decorating for weddings in his community. He was always called upon because he has the eye for detail and uniqueness.
“I have always been a fan of décor and decorations stuff. Every wedding held in the village, I would make that special effort to assist and help with decorations,” he said.
From that, his business was born and it has been in existence for over 10 years now. The services they offer include his photography services, catering, hair and makeup and of course, decorating.
“For me, photography is about capturing not only the special moments, but also bring to life what nature and mother earth has to offer us. Pictures that are priceless and have a story to tell. Planning and working for events can have both the advantages and disadvantages. Regardless all the hiccups, the best part is to see clients’ face light up after they have trusted you with handling their event and doing everything they asked for with a surprise or some twists,” he noted.
The young man is focused on making his mark and while he is happy with where he is, he thinks he still needs to grow and learn a whole lot more.
