Murder accused “Rasta Bean” nabbed

Wanted murder accused Deion Evans, also known as “Rasta Bean”, who allegedly shot and killed 24-year-old Xavier Boyal at Puruni Landing on November 12, 2018, was nabbed by the Police on Saturday. This was confirmed by F Division (Interior locations) Commander Kevin Adonis who stated that the suspect is being questioned in relation to the murder.
He is expected to be transported to Georgetown where he will be arraigned with the capital offence. The now dead pork knocker who hailed from Waramuri Mission, Moruca River, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini) was shot during an altercation.
It was reported that Boyal who was employed by a dredge owner of Supply, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, and was working at Rock Creek, Puruni River.
The Police stated that on the day in question, Boyal left Rock Creek along with one of his co-workers, 20-year-old Orlando Marks, and went to a popular disco at Puruni Landing.
At the location, Marks was engaged in an altercation with an unknown man during which he was punched to his face.
Upon seeing this, Boyal reportedly intervened and pushed the assailant away. After sometime, Marks and Boyal left the disco and were heading to their mining camp.
Around the same time, a food vendor was starting his car when Deion Evans, also called “Rasta Bean”, joined the vehicle and instructed him to drive.
The driver was ordered to take him to a specific location but on their way, the suspect whipped out a gun from his pants waist and pointed the gun towards the windscreen. He reportedly discharged a round which struck Boyal who was walking along the side of the road.
The now dead man fell to the ground and it was this time the suspect exited the vehicle and escaped but not before discharging another round. Boyal was reportedly shot trice. A 9mm shell was found on the scene.
