NA man charged for giving false name to Police

A New Amsterdam, Berbice man appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Thursday charged for giving false information to the Police.

the charge when it was read to him.

It is alleged that on July 23, 2017 at the Ruimveldt Police Station, Georgetown, Anthony gave the Police Officer the name Justin Tonechane knowing same to be false.

Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail being granted based on the nature of the offence and the fact that false information was given.

He also revealed that the defendant had a narcotics matter ongoing in court.

However, bail was granted in the sum of $50,000 and the accused was made to appear in another courtroom that same day where another date was given.
