Nalico, Nafico providing insurance coverage for historic schools’ cricket tournament

Parents and guardians of players who will compete at the upcoming Schools’ Under-19 T20 League will have peace of mind sending their children off to the tournament, knowing that their every move within the competition sphere will be covered by insurance.
This revelation was made on Tuesday afternoon, as Nalico/Nafico was unveiled as the official insurance partner of the Beharry Holdings Inc-sponsored tournament.
During a simple briefing at the company’s Hinck Street, Georgetown headquarters, CEO Dean Robertson broke down how the tournament’s 1600 players and staff will be covered.
He divulged, “Ultimately, we’ve got 1600 players, that’s an immense amount of players coming together, different times, different locations, big logistics and this insurance doesn’t just cover the players, its covers the support staff, it covers the umpires. So, it’s everyone that is involved to make this happen is actually covered by this insurance coverage.

“And games, stadiums, grounds, accommodation and transportation, so it’s not just personal accident coverage when you’re actually competing on the pitch. This is for the entire competition period. So, it gives peace of mind to your parents and your loved ones that everything is protected while you participate in this major event,” the Nalico/Nafico CEO went on to share.
Robertson further advised students, teachers, and organisers present that the company has ensured a comprehensive level of coverage to ensure the best treatment for any injured.
As preparations intensify ahead of the tournament’s June 13 bowl-off date, Petra Organisation Consultant Troy Peters noted that measures would be put in place to work around recent inclement weather.
“As we prepare for the official start of the tournament, I know the weather has been unfavourable at this time, but we cannot wait on the weather. Our preparations are gaining momentum and we’re going full speed ahead. So, once we have favourable weather we will kick off. Our programme is scheduled to start June 13, weather permitting, but as I said before, we’re all putting systems in place,” Peters advised.
The 80-team tournament will be divided into eight districts namely Region 1/Region 2 (10 teams); Region 3/Region 7 (10 teams); Region 4 – East Bank/Upper Demerara (8 teams); Region 4 – East Coast Demerara (10 teams); North Georgetown (10 teams); South Georgetown (12 teams); Region 5 – West Berbice (14 teams) and Region 6 –- East Berbice (6 teams).
The tournament is expected to conclude on Saturday, August 8.
