Narco trafficker jailed for 3 years

Linden Magistrate Wanda Fortune sentenced 31-year-old Sunil Nanhu to three years’ imprisonment after he admitted to a charge of trafficking in narcotics.
Nanhu, of Lot 598 Bell West Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara, was charged with the offence of being in possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. He was arrested by Police on February 21 at Kwakwani, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) after he was found in possession of 265 grams of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems.
He pleaded guilty to the offence when he made his first appearance before the Linden Magistrate’s Court. In addition to the jail time, he was fined $397,500.
