The Flying Ace Cycling Club (FACC) of Berbice staged a successful 10-lap, 40- mile cycle road race around the Ancient County town of New Amsterdam as part of Guyana’s Independence anniversary celebrations.
With a time of 1h40m, Balram Narine was crowned the winner, with Clement Doris coming in second. Other top finishers included Syborne Fernandes (3rd), Jason Cameron (4th) and David Hicks (5th).

Hosted for strictly members of the FACC, 16 riders sped away from the checkpoint, Rainbow Bar on Republic Road. Riders visited Vryheid Road, Stanleytown and Tacama before going back into Republic Road.
The cyclists repeated the route 10 times, eventually ending at the Rainbow Bar. Mario Washington starred in the Boys’ race while the first female was Maria Carrington. For the BMX riders, Nehaun Rigby was first among the 9-12 group, with the younger Neshaun Rigby the first in the 6-9 category. The 3-5 age group was won by riders Arfaan Blair (male) and Elesa Austin (female) while the eldest to complete a race was 67-year-old Daniel Rigby.
