Narine’s 164 & 2-32 blindside Intruders

– Dhanpaul, Vantull, Patadin also contribute

Over the course of the last weekend, the action continued in the Caribbean Fest 40-Over Tournament 2021 with the Majestics Cricket Club battling their Intruders counterparts in a one-sided affair at the Cunningham Park on 73rd Avenue.
In the end, a brilliant all-round performance from Derick Narine, Avi Dhanpual and Damion Vantull saw Majestics over the line.
With the game reduced to 30 overs because of the blistering 94-degree temperature, the Majestics side took early control of the game when Chris Patadin scored a quickfire 46 off 27 balls, inclusive of 9 boundaries and one maximum, while Narine completely stole the show by producing 164 majestic runs off 62 deliveries, inclusive of 21 boundaries and 9 maximums.
The Majestics’ assault was far from finished with the departure of Narine, as Dhanpaul scored a 20-ball 37, Vantull blasted a 14-ball 45, and Dedinauth Persaud scored 56 off 24 deliveries to have Majestic post a total of 417-7 in their allotted 30 overs.
All of the Intruders’ bowlers were sent to the cleaners, as the Majestics side was just too strong for them.
Needing 418 to win off 30 overs, the Intruders were staring down the barrel of a gun, as even they knew that the total was impossible to chase. They still had to make an effort, but the Majestics not only boasted good batters, but bowling as well.

Derick Narine scored 164 and bagged 2-32

The Majestics were able to restrict their opponents to 129 all out in 27 overs, with Dhanpaul bagging figures of 2 for 6, Narine bagging 2 for 32, Danniram Sewnarain bagging 3 for 12; while Robin Rooplall, Shafeek Khan and Saadiq Khan each bagged a wicket.
This is the fourth week of the competition, and the Majestics side currently has the top run-scorers in first and second position, and the top wicket-taker as well, all of whom are Guyanese.
Patadin has scored 297 runs in his four innings, with a high score of 152; while Narine has scored 263 runs with a high score of 164. In the bowling department Dhanpaul has played in all four matches and has bowled 25 overs for 100 runs while picking up 10 wickets.
