New Era/Mohamed’s Enterprise 5th Annual Futsal tourney launched

The fifth edition of the Mohamed’s Enterprise Futsal tournament, organised by New Era Entertainment, was launched on Friday at Mohamed’s Enterprise on Lombard Street, Georgetown.
This year, even more support has been pumped into the event, since ExxonMobil has decided to come on board as one of the major sponsors of the tournament, traditionally hosted at the Mackenzie Hardcourt in Linden.
Nazar Mohamed, CEO of Mohamed’s Enterprise, an astute supporter of local football, who has also been major sponsor of the Kashif and Shanghai Tournament that spanned over 25 years, has once again been quite pleased to assist the sponsorship of this event. In brief remarks, he told the media gathering that it was an honour for him to be part of the New Era family in presenting the event and contributing to football locally.
The longstanding football supporter expressed hope that the tournament, like the World Cup, would be contested in high spirits. Before closing his remarks, he added that his company is always part of sport and culture, and will always be involved with events such as this one.
Also present at the launch was the New Era Entertainment team, ANSA McAL representative Seweon McGarrell and the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Rawle Adams.
Adams, secretary of the Guyana Futsal Association, applauded the effort New Era has put into making it to the forefront of futsal, and said the GFF supports football in any format.
Over $2 million in cash and prizes are up for grabs when the seven-day tournament kicks off from July 27, and culminates on August 18.
Over twenty teams from Linden, Georgetown and the West Side have signalled their intention to compete for the grand prize of $600,000. Second place finishers will receive $250,000, while the third placed team will receive $100,000 and the fourth placed team, $75,000.
