NGOs distribute wheelchairs to several institutions

The Rotary Club of Georgetown in collaboration with the Mohani Thani Foundation distributed 55 wheelchairs to several organisations in Guyana.
This donation was made on the heels that hospitals, rehabilitation centres and homes for senior citizens are affected with challenges that limit and/or prevent mobility. Wheelchairs are just one way of assisting caregivers in daily routines and helping the individual regain some independence.
Representatives of the organisations which include West Demerara Regional Hospital, Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, Gentlemen Outreach and Ladies of Charity expressed their appreciation to the Club and the Mohan Thani Foundation for the gesture.
One representative was moved with the receipt of the paediatric wheelchairs as it personally affects her when she sees an eight-year-old who is unable to walk being carried by her parents.
As the Club celebrates its 60th year of dedicated service to varying communities in Guyana in six main areas – peace and conflict prevention/resolution; disease prevention and treatment; water and sanitation; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; economic and community development – it continues to offer assistance.
The Rotary Club will continue to partner with the Mohani Thani Foundation and other organisations offering “Service above Self” and through these small gestures, the Club will work to see the vision where “Rotary Connects the World”.
