“I Care Kit” is the Club’s culmination of its recently executed “Christmas Cheer” project which catered to 124 children from seven orphanages in and around Georgetown, Linden and East Coast Demerara (ECD), along with children from its Sophia Literacy Programme (SLP).
This project in particular sought to share the spirit of peace, joy, goodwill and giving of the Christmas season to the residents of the Night Shelter; and older group who often find themselves in less fortunate positions around this time of year.
The project was sponsored by Food for the Poor, Massy Distribution, the Interact Club of School of the Nations, Broadway Fashion, Antartic Maintenance & Repairs, and Rotaractors and Guests of the RCG.
The shelter’s administrator Sheila Veerasammy proffered thanks for the donation.
The RCG is a not for profit, non-governmental organisation for individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 with a mandate to provide service to the community through volunteer initiatives.
Rotaract is a Rotary Club Partner designed to foster leadership, responsible citizenship, high ethical standards in business; and ultimately a better life for youths and those around their influence circles.
