Non-Pareil businessman drops dead after “seizure attack” at gas station

A 66-year-old businessman of Lot 113 Block XX Non-Pareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD), shocked his family with the news of his death after he dropped dead on Thursday at the Rubis Gas Station, Rupert Craig Highway.

The victim, Hamid Sharriff lost his life at about 13:40h after he pulled into the gas station to pump gas into his vehicle.
Police said so far, their investigations revealed that on the day in question, the businessman and his wife left their home in their Toyota Tundra vehicle, driven by the now-deceased man.
Upon their arrival at the gas station, the deceased proceeded to one of the gas pumps and began to refuel the said vehicle during which he had a seizure and became motionless.
It was also revealed that prior to the seizure, the deceased had a history of “high cholesterol and a heart-related condition”.
After he collapsed, the EMT Ambulance Service was immediately summoned to the scene and the deceased was pronounced dead by a doctor at about 14:00h.
The body is presently lying at Jerrick’s Funeral Home awaiting a PME. No marks of violence were seen on the exposed part of the deceased’s body.
Investigations are ongoing.
