North West farmer slapped with murder charge

A 46-year-old farmer of Five Miles, Port Kaituma, Region One (Barima-Waini) was brought before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to face Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the unlawful killing of Romel Gouveia, also called “White Boy”.
Charles Lennard was charged for killing Gouveia between October 5 and 6, 2017 at Five Miles, Port Kaituma.
Lennard, who professed himself a farmer, was unrepresented by legal counsel and was not required to plead to the indictable offence.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore indicated that the case file was still incomplete as the prosecution was awaiting the filing of the post-mortem report. The case was transferred to the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court for November 2.
Details surrounding the murder were not disclosed to the court.
