NTFGL Round 6… Late-season charge by Prashad, Persaud, Vijimoor tightens championship race

The National Top Flight Golf League (NTFGL) Tour Two championship race intensified dramatically on Sunday as Round Six, sponsored by Promotech Guyana Inc and Danny’s Auto Sales, produced outstanding performances at the Lusignan Golf Course (LGC).
With the course returning to excellent playing condition following the wet season, golfers battled through a highly competitive round that saw Patrick Prashad emerge as the standout performer, while Patanjilee Persaud and Bala Vijimoor mounted significant challenges to the established leaders. Prashad delivered the round’s most impressive performance, carding a superb net 68 to capture overall honours and earn eight championship points.
He was particularly dominant on the back nine, where he fired an exceptional net 32, securing another two points and completing a spectacular 10-point haul for Round Six. The victory proved crucial for Prashad, who moved into third place overall with 16 points, just two points behind championship leader Anand Persaud.
Patanjilee Persaud also produced an excellent performance. He recorded a net 35 on the front nine, edging Bala Vijimoor on the tiebreaker to secure the front-nine honours and two points.

Persaud continued his strong play over the remainder of the course, finishing with a net 69 to claim second overall and five additional championship points. His seven-point haul significantly strengthened his position in the Tour #2 standings.
Vijimoor was equally competitive. After narrowly missing out on the front-nine honours, he remained composed and finished with a net 71, securing third place and three valuable championship points.
Mike Mangal finished fourth with a net 73, earning two points, while Videsh Persaud secured the final championship point by finishing fifth.
The results have created a thrilling situation at the top of the Tour Two standings. Anand Persaud leads with 18 points, followed closely by Maxim Mangra with 17, Patrick Prashad with 16, and Joseph Szeplaki with 14.
With only four points separating the top four players, the championship remains wide open heading into Round Seven.
The next round is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, at Lusignan Golf Course, where the leading quartet of Anand Persaud, Maxim Mangra, Patrick Prashad and Joseph Szeplaki are expected to tee off together.
The NTFGL Tour Two now heads into Round Seven, with the championship finely poised as the leaders look to hold their ground, while a determined group of challengers continues to close the gap.
Round Six was made possible through the valued sponsorship of Promotech Guyana Inc and Danny’s Auto Sales, whose support continues to contribute to the growth and development of competitive golf in Guyana.
