An accident at Montrose, East Coast Dermerara (ECD) earlier this morning has left one man dead and two others injured.
According to information reaching the Guyana Times, the accident occurred some time about 05:30 between a canter and garbage truck.
The dead man has been identified as a Puran Bros Disposal Service employee.
Reports are that the canter was speeding at the time of the accident and slammed into the read of the garbage truck.
Guyana Times was told that the dead man was at the back of the garbage truck and the impact of the collision severed his foot and killed him instantaneously. Additionally, both the driver and passenger of the canter being pinned was pinned in the vehicle.
Firefighters from the Guyana Fire Service had to cut the vehicle open to rescue the men.
An investigation has been launched.
