Ongoing track work forces cancellation of Dakota 100 Endurance meet

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has announced that its upcoming Dakota 100 Endurance Race Meet scheduled for June 28, 2026, has been cancelled.
The decision comes as ongoing works at the circuit have not yet been fully completed, resulting in the venue not being in a condition to safely host drivers, competitors, and race officials.
The safety of all participants remains the highest priority, and after careful assessment, organisers determined that postponing the event is the most responsible course of action at this time.
“We appreciate the patience, understanding, and continued support of our drivers, teams, sponsors, and fans as we work to ensure the best possible conditions for future events,” organisers stated.

“We knew that the aggressive timeline of getting the venue up to scratch was going to be difficult, and the weather has not been on our side. However, we have commissioned a team to work 24 hours to get the venue to the standard we need it,” the official added.
“What we can say is that the actual track is complete. It’s the ancillary work, perimeter fencing and things like that that are still being built and put in place that is ongoing. It’s because of this that we have kept some of the machinery and materials nearby, and as such, we can’t risk having competitors at the venue where there are hazards.”
The GMR&SC advised that updates regarding a new event date and future racing activities will be communicated once arrangements have been finalised.
