“Orange the Runway” billed for December 9

In observance of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, the Heart to Art Foundation, a non-governmental organisation whose mission is to combat mental illness through the arts’, has organised its first charity and fundraising event – Guyana’s first fashion, award and advocacy show – “Orange the Runway Volume 1,” slated for Sunday, December 9, at Herdmanston Lodge.
“Orange the Runway” aims to increase awareness of gender-based violence in Guyana and the Caribbean. This initiative has been birthed with the mandate of acquiring funds for organisations such as ‘The Save Project’ to aid in their work of reducing and eliminating gender-based violence and other social issues surrounding young girls and women and also young boys and men.
Most importantly, this event aims to honour and award local activists and advocate survivors of gender-based violence and sexual assault.
International Model, Juanita Bledman will also be present at the event. In addition, patrons will witness stunning designs from Andrea Wilson of the British Virgin Islands, Isaiah Luther Designs, Rhoda Dox and other Guyanese designers and local boutiques.
The show is scheduled to commence at 15:00h but gates will open at 13:00h.
