Digicel Schools Football Championships 2016

Orealla maintained their dominance over Siparuta in the Digicel National Annual Schools Knockout Football
tournament on Sunday with a 4-nil victory at the Orealla Savannah Oval as action in zone six on the competition continued.
Led by a double by Cameron Edwards, Orealla almost dominated the entire game to ensure that Siparuta were sent packing for their third year in the competition in the first round. Edwards registered his first goal in the 7th minute when he received a pass from number Donell France and dribbled past the defense and sent a shot flying between the uprights.
The goal seemed to have alerted Siparuta, as their defense which was led by number Sylvester James became more alert and gave France and Edwards a difficult time. Combined with the expert goalkeeping by umber one, Siparuta were able to keep the score unchanged despite some excellent plays by number France and Edwards until the 32nd minute when Andrea France made a beautiful pass inside the 18-yard box across the goal and his brother Donell sent the shot to the far side of a sprawling Donnie James between the uprights.
Five minutes later, Miguel Devair scored off the penalty spot to give Orealla a 3-0 half-time lead.
In the first half, Orealla’s goalkeeper Delon Lowe had no work to do.
On the resumption, Siparuta being assisted with the wind got their act together after James made an excellent save for them, and tested Lowe six times before James was called on again. However, after twenty minutes of dominance, Orealla were back on the attack and a combination of France and Edwards got pass the solid defense which Siparuta had created in the 85th minute allowing Edwards to register his second goal.
Orealla will now meet the winner of next Monday’s game between New Amsterdam Multilateral School and Lower Corentyne at the Burnham Park.
