Over $1B in contracts signed for road works in Region 2
The Public Works Ministry on Wednesday signed 33 contracts for road works across Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) to the tune of $1.047 billion.
The roads will be constructed in Charity, Better Success, Adventure, Rivertown, Suddie, Pomona, Queenstown, Affiance, Huis t’ Dieren, Hibernia, Good Intent, Zorg, Onderneeming and La Union.
Speaking at the simple signing ceremony, hosted at the Regional Democratic Council’s Boardroom, Minister within the Public Works Ministry, Deodat Indar said that in the coming month, the region would see massive developments of roads in various communities.
Indar added that the projects was awarded through the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), which will be monitored by the regional administration. Approval of the project was granted by Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Regional Chairperson Velma De Silva thanked the Government for delivering on its commitment to enhance Region Two.
She also called on the contractors to ensure that they deliver quality work.
Witnessing the contract signing along with Minister Indar were Public Works Ministry Permanent Secretary Vladim Persaud; De Silva; Regional Executive Officer (REO) Susana Saywack along with several contractors. (G14)
