Over $7M in equipment handed over to Mabaruma residents

Residents of Mabaruma District, Region One (Barima-Waini) received more than million in capital equipment from the Communities Ministry on Saturday.
The equipment was handed over to the residents by Junior Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Minister Valerie Garrido-Lowe.

The communities benefited from equipment such as boat engines, a chain saw, brush-cutters, sewing machines and cabinets, sport gear and fogging machines.
Speaking at the handing-over, Minister Garrido-Lowe told the residents that the equipment was provided to assist their basic needs.
She noted that “every dollar counts in business, and you have to start running your projects as businesses. This is yours: it is an investment; it’s your capital and you have to make sure that it works for you over the years.”
The Permanent Secretary, Alfred King told residents that the Ministry would continue to partner with them to facilitate better delivery of services such as potable water, health services, and education.
