Former Guyana youth player Rovindra Parasram hit a steady, unbeaten 53 to propel hosts Imam Bacchus Cricket Club to a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Region One All-Stars Teachers team last Saturday at the Affiance ground, Essequibo Coast.
The right-handed Parasram struck five fours and a six while he received good support from skipper Parmeshwar Persaud who slammed a cameo 32 as Imam Bacchus raced to 106-2 in the 18th over.
After winning the toss and taking first strike, the visitors only managed an insufficient 105 all out from the allotted 20-overs.
Carl Charles made a dogged 25 while Tony Harris and Dharshan Persaud made 16 and 15 respectively to be the other batsmen in double-figures.
Off-spinner Festous Williams claimed a hat-trick, 3-12 from three penetrative overs to help skittle out the opposition on a responsive pitch under blue skies.
The match was part of Region One’s tour to Region Two and to seek qualification to represent Essequibo Teachers in an upcoming tournament.
