Home News Parika labourer charged for attempted murder
Leroy Daniels, 51, was charged for unlawfully and maliciously wounding Dharmendra Persaud with intent to commit murder on December 23, 2017 at Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
Daniels denied the charge, and Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan was inclined to uphold the prosecution’s objection to bail notwithstanding the application of defence lawyer Tiffany Jeffrey.
Though circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, Guyana Times understands that the victim remains in an unconscious and critical state at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The father of four was remanded to prison until January 16, 2018, when he is expected to appear in the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD).
