Patentia mother remanded for narco-trafficking

A Patentia, West Bank Demerara (WBD) mother of four was on Tuesday remanded to prison when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan charged for trafficking narcotics.
Allia Campbell, 31, was not allowed to plea to the allegation that was made out against her. It is being alleged that on July 13, 2018, at Bartica Police Station, the accused had 1169 grams of cannabis in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The domestic worker was reportedly intercepted in a boat at Bartica when Police acting on information confronted her.
She was taken to the Police Station, where the drugs were found in a bucket she was carrying. The said drugs were weighed in her presence and amounted to 1169 grams. As such, she was told of the allegation, arrested and later charged.
Campbell will make her next court appearance on August 2, 2018. The matter has been transferred before the Bartica magistrate.
