Patentia Secondary School defeated The Bishops’ High School to win the Samaroo Investment-sponsored Secondary Schools Bragging Rights Tapeball Trophy competition at the National Cultural Centre tarmac on Saturday last.
Led by a match-winning innings from captain Val Samuels, Patentia successfully chased 102, reaching 104 for five after The Bishop’s High School had posted 101 for three from their allotted overs.
Samuels led the run chase with 67 and was later named the Most Valuable Player of the competition.

Andrew Narine and Aditya Persaud were the leading bowlers for The Bishop’s High School. Narine claimed two wickets for 28 runs, while Persaud finished with two for 41.
Earlier, Narine had top-scored for The Bishop’s High School with 44, while Aiyan Persaud contributed 28. Jadon Birch was Patentia’s most successful bowler, taking two wickets for 29 runs.
The competition was organised by Uprising Promotions, formerly known as GOAPC, and coordinated by James “Uprising” Lewis.
The organisers also announced that another competition would be held at the National Park tarmac from midday, with sponsorship from the United States-based DC Metro Cricket Organisation.
Three leading teams are expected to compete in a round-robin format for a trophy, medals and other prizes.
