
The Zone Seven leg of the 2026 Beharry Schools’ Under-19 T20 Cricket Tournament will continue on Saturday with a double-header at the Cotton Tree Ground in Berbice.
Rosignol Secondary and Bush Lot Secondary will contest the opening match from 09:00h, before Woodley Park Secondary and No. 8 Secondary meet in the second fixture at 13:30h.
With the tournament approaching its decisive stages, the four schools will be seeking important victories as they continue their bid to advance from the zone.
The opening encounter is expected to provide a competitive start to the day, with Rosignol Secondary and Bush Lot Secondary aiming to establish early control of the Zone Seven competition.
Attention will then turn to Woodley Park Secondary and No. 8 Secondary, who will bring the day’s action to a close in the afternoon fixture.
Saturday’s matches follow the completion of the Zone Two and Zone Three competitions at the Uitvlugt Ground last weekend, where Essequibo Islands Secondary and Covent Garden Secondary emerged as champions.
Essequibo Islands Secondary secured the Zone Two title with a commanding nine-wicket victory over West Demerara Secondary School.
National youth all-rounder Bhomesh Lall produced an impressive bowling performance, claiming four wickets for five runs. Man-of-the-match Aarav Sukhram was also outstanding, taking five wickets for one run before contributing 11 runs during the successful chase.
In the Zone Three final, Covent Garden Secondary recorded a convincing 24-run victory over Yarrakabra Secondary School.
Most Valuable Player Navindranauth Ram played a key role in the victory, scoring 25 runs and taking two wickets for 18 runs to guide Covent Garden to the zonal title.
