Two men have been hospitalised following an early morning brawl at Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, Georgetown on Monday.
Injured is 21-year-old Terrence Basteani of Lot 66 Barr Street, Albouystown, while his assailant is also left nursing a minor stab wound.
Based on information reaching Guyana Times, the incident occurred sometime after 07:00h on Monday morning when Basteani rushed to the aid of his brother, who was involved in a fight with the suspect.
It was during this confrontation that the 21-year-old was stabbed several times to his upper chest and once to the neck.
The suspect also received a stab wound to the chest.
The two were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they received treatment and remain in stable condition.
Speaking with Guyana Times, Basteani’s mother said that she was not aware of what exactly transpired, but added that her son was stabbed several times and was at the time unable to speak when she visited him at the Hospital.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commander Marlon Chapman told this publication that Police in A Division (Georgetown-East Bank Demerara) are aware of the incident and as such, an investigation has been launched.
