Pedal cyclist killed while crossing road

A pedal cyclist was fatally struck down on the Hauraruni Public Road on the Linden-Soesdyke highway on Saturday evening while attempting to cross the road.
Dead is Gordon Watson, 51, of Hauraruni, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
Police Commander of Division No 4 (B) Kurliegh Simon told this publication that the incident occurred at around 19:45h on the night in question. According to the Commander, both the car and the cyclist were proceeding in the same direction when it is alleged that the car bearing registration number PRR 9696 collided with Gordon.
The now dead man was picked up in an unconscious state and was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Just a week ago, 57-year-old Ramona Hunte of Anna Catherina, was struck down and killed by a cop while riding along the Anna Catherina Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
It was reported that the motor car, PNN 5547, driven by a policeman, struck the woman, who was riding on the left side of the public road.
As a result of the impact, the woman sustained severe injuries about her body. She was picked up and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
