Home News Pedestrian hospitalised following Harlem accident
A pedestrian is now hospitalised after he was struck down by a car along the Harlem Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD), on Saturday.
The accident reportedly occurred at about 19:10h on the day in question. The injured man was identified as 55-year-old Shafeek Majeed of Waller’s Delight, WCD. At the time of the accident, the car was being driven by an 18-year-old of Old Road, Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.
It was reported that the motor car was proceeding along the public road at a slow rate of speed when Majeed attempted to cross the road and ended up in the path of the motor car, thus resulting in a collision.
As a result, the pedestrian reportedly fell onto the road’s surface where he received multiple injuries about his body.
He was picked up in a conscious state and transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty. He was admitted and his condition is regarded as stable
Meanwhile, a breathalyser test was conducted on the driver but there was no trace of alcohol in his system. The driver of the motor car is in custody assisting with investigations.
