Pedestrian killed by speeding motor car at Providence

Thirty-eight year-old Leslyn Cupidore of Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was killed by a speeding car in the wee hours of Tuesday along the Providence Public Road.
Based on reports received, the motor car bearing registration number PAM 8305, driven by a 33-year-old male from North Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was proceeding along the roadway at a high speed when he collided with the pedestrian, who was crossing the road at the time.
As a result of the impact, Cupidore sustained bodily injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by doctors and emergency medical technicians attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
A breathalyser test conducted on the driver proved that he was under the influence of alcohol but below the prescribed limit. The driver remains in custody as investigations continue.
