A pensioner has died after falling from the upper flat of his two-storey home on Tuesday.
Dead is Narain Ramaswami, 71, of Lot 64 Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara. Police have said the man’s body was found at around 14:00h on the day in question.
Investigations revealed that Ramawami had lived alone in the two-storey wooden-and-concrete building in Goed Fortuin, and had been a known alcoholic. He had last been seen by neighbours on Sunday last, and is believed to have fallen through a flooring from the upper flat to the lower flat, where he met his demise.
The man’s body was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted shortly. An investigation has been launched.
