A petty thief was unhappy to hear that he will be spending the next year of his life in prison for stealing a number of items.
Milton Smith, 29, of Lot 169 David Street, Kitty appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. He pleaded guilty when Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charge to him.
It is alleged that between September 22 and 23, 2016, at Young Street, Kingston, he broke and entered El Dorado Trading and stole two trolleys, two travelling bags and one helmet; a total value of $95,000.
The prosecution told the court that on the day in question; the Virtual Complainant (VC) secured the articles in the premises and went out.
However, upon his return the following day, the articles were missing. CCTV footage showed the defendant removing the articles. The matter was reported to the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters, in Eve Leary, and the defendant was arrested. He was told of the offence and admitted to carrying out the act.
When asked by the Magistrate if he had anything to say, he vibrantly said, “I already pleaded guilty.” As such, he was sentenced to prison.
