Phillips, Rogers miss podium places – YCG final

The Guyanese sprint duo of Onassha Rogers and Kenisha Phillips finished fourth and fifth respectively in the final of the Girl’s 100m final event on Thursday at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.

Onassha Rogers

The race was won by Louise Day of Australia in a time of 11.77 seconds. Julien Alfred of St Lucia copped the silver in 11.80 seconds while Deondra Green of Canada claimed the bronze medal in a time of 11.81 seconds.

Kenisha Phillips

Rogers placed fourth in 11.90 while the Phillips finished fifth in 12.05 seconds.
Rogers won her semi-final with a time of 11.90s while Phillips was second in her semi-finals with a time of 12.05s. Earlier Phillips qualified for the semi-finals when she won her heat in a time of 12.14s although she was tied with St Lucia’s Kimani Alphonse who clocked the same time, in third place also qualifying for the Semi-finals was Lakelle Kinteh from the Bahamas. Rogers had a faster qualifying time as she won her heat by a sizable margin clocking 11.98s while England’s Vera Chinedu was second in 12.20s and Heleina Young from Fiji third in 12.57s.
