Pillion rider injured after motorcyclist loses control

A pillion rider was injured on Saturday evening following an accident in the vicinity of the roundabout at Lethem, Region Nine, (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
Injured is 27-year-old Jason Barnarco of Paraishara Village, Rupununi.
Police stated that a motorcycle bearing registration number JXR 4276 was proceeding along the centre of the road with Barnarco as the pillion rider at a fast pace.
As the motorcycle approached the roundabout, the driver reportedly lost control, thus causing the front wheel of the motorcycle to hit the centre of the roundabout.
As a result of the impact, the rider and Barnarco were thrown off the motorcycle onto the roadway and sustained injuries.
However, the rider got up and fled the scene while the pillion rider was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Lethem Regional Hospital where he was treated and admitted to the medical facility. The Police are on the hunt for the motorcycle rider as investigations continue.
