Pink Diamond Promotions launches Father & Son sport event

On Thursday April 7, 2022 at the Transport & Harbours Sports Club, Pink Diamond Promotions announced the launch of the ‘Daddy & Me’ Competition, set for June 18, 2022.

Founder of the event, Warren Wilson, is seen alongside Events Coordinator Kade Pearce

This activity is projected to be an annual one to celebrate fathers’ day in the month of June.
This inaugural competition will highlight fathers teaming with their sons in three categories: 7 to 9, 10 to 12, & 13 to 16, as they compete in several disciplines to be crowned champion. These events include tug-o-war, softball cricket, and obstacle courses.
The competition was set to kick off in 2020, but the situation with COVID-19 put it on hold. In a statement from founder of the event, Warren Wilson, it was said, “Yes, fathers will have to do a simple physical, which will be conducted by the competition doctor. Once cleared, participants will have to be a part of our cardio and fitness sessions leading up to competition day. This is our first event, as 2020 was the year the pandemic hit, so we were unable to pull it off.
“I’m elated to be able to host the competition this year, and excited to see the fathers and their sons in action.”
Wilson also noted that paying attention to the rules of the games is very important, as the fathers are required to pass a physical test to ensure their eligibility in the competition. The competition is open to all fathers. All eligible participants must attend cardio and aerobics sessions which will be provided by the committee. All participants must disclose any preceding health conditions, and the organizing committee reserves the right to refuse entry to any potential participant deemed unfit.
Several corporate entities have been approached for sponsorship, with positive responses to date coming from Trophy Stall, Cole’s Screen Printers, What’s Happening Guyana, and GHSM Consumables.
It is anticipated that others will come on board as fathers are facilitated with this opportunity for bonding with sons.
