PMCC take 1st innings honours in drawn encounter

BCB/NYBG 1-day, 2-innings, U-19 cricket…

The Port Mourant Cricket Club (PMCC) continued their unbeaten streak with a first innings victory against Guysuco Training Centre on Sunday in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/New York Business Group (NYBG) two innings Under-19 competition.

Winning the toss and batting first, GuySuCo Training Centre were all out for 96 runs in 24 overs. Jomaul Butts and Kadeen Samuels were the only two batsmen to reach double figures with 45 and 17 respectively.

Bowling for the PMCC, Nickolas Seenarine, Berbice Under-19 pacer, took four wickets for nine runs in his six-over spell, while his other Berbice Under 19 partner, Vivekanand Jagjit, took 2-14. Jamar Lancaster took 2-17, while Kevin Latiff and Sudesh Ghamandi took one wicket each.

Replying to the target set by the GuySuCo Training Centre, the PMCC mustered 165 in 27 overs with Daniel Samaroo leading the way with 55 off 47 deliveries. Totaram Rajaram provided valuable support, and hit a fluent 40 decorated with four boundaries.

In the second innings, the GuySuCo Training Centre only managed to gain a lead of 48 runs and PMCC reached 32-2 before play was called off at 17:00h. The PMCC took the points for winning the first innings of the match.
