PNCR Region 2 Chair charged for attacking businessman on social media
More than four months after making derogatory comments on social media against an Essequibo businessman, the People’s National Congress Reform Chairman of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), Prince Holder was charged on Tuesday for the offence.
Prince made his virtual appearance at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Dylon Bess where he pleaded not guilty to the charge which states that on June 7, 2020, at Henrietta, over the internet, he used a computer system to publish transcripts of electronic data, with the intent to humiliate and cause emotional distress to Tamesh Jagmohan.
He was represented by Attorney-at-Law Haimraj Rajkumar, who made a successful bail application. As such, Prince was released on $10,000 bail and will return to court on September 16, 2020, for the commencement of trial.
Prince had accused the businessman of sharing hampers to residents in Essequibo as a bribe to support the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) in case of a riot in the region. In the post, he had also called out Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo for sending unmarked vehicles in the region to intimidate residents.
“These behaviour will not be tolerated, I am making it very clear to Jagdeo and the PPP, I am ready for any kind of confrontation with the PPP….I am not afraid to die for my country Guyana and the APNU/AFC, so for the PPP who came to Region 2 with your plans, do me a favor, bring it on,” the post had stated.
