The makeshift camp set on fire

As the Guyana Police Force (GPF) continues with its drug eradication exercise, some $258 million worth of ganja was found and destroyed at Kimba along the Upper Berbice River on Friday. Police stated that during the operation, two fields measuring about seven acres with approximately 310,000 cannabis sativa plants ranging from two to six feet in height were discovered. In addition, two makeshift camps, two drying areas, 380 pounds of dried cannabis and farming tools were also found at the location. As such, the cannabis plants, dried cannabis, camps, drying areas and tools were all destroyed by fire. The police stated that the estimated value of the narcotics is $258,729,310. At the time of the operation, no arrests were made. Back in March, the police reported that $551 million worth of ganja was destroyed at De Veldt, Upper Berbice River.
It was reported that during the eight-hour exercise, two fields with a combined area of approximately seven acres, with about 640,000 cannabis plants, were discovered. The plants ranged between four and 10 feet in height.
In addition, one large drying area was also found with about 850 pounds of dried cannabis.
