Police destroy over 1275 kg ganja plants

Ranks of E Division (Interior Locations) on Saturday destroyed over 2000 cannabis plants among other items at Mille Hide Out, Upper Demerara River.
Based on information received, the ranks, acting on intelligence, went to the location, where they discovered two acres of marijuana under cultivation – about 2000 cannabis plants measuring three to eight feet in height and estimated to weigh about 500 kilograms.
In addition, a nursery with about 200 plants along with two makeshift camps with four hammocks, two mattresses and a quantity of kitchen utensils were found.
The Police stated that about two miles away from the initial location, another three acres of marijuana cultivation with about 3500 cannabis plants measuring two to six feet in height and weighing an estimated 775kg were found. A nursery with about 500 plants was also discovered.
There were also two makeshift camps with five hammocks, three mattresses, kitchen utensils, clothing, groceries, one red mountain bicycle, one water can and six cellular phones. The plants and the camp were destroyed, but no arrests were made.
