Police destroy 7 acres of marijuana in Berbice River
Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Thursday conducted a 13-hour narcotics eradication exercise at Tabatalli, Berbice River during which seven acres of cultivated marijuana was destroyed.

The five fields consisted of about 19,500 plants ranging from three inches to eight feet in height with an estimated weight of 9750 kilograms.
Five camps, 300 kilograms of processed cannabis and an empty 12-gauge casing were also found. Police stated that the camps and cannabis were destroyed by fire. However, no arrest has been made.

Just over one week ago, ranks of E Division (Linden-Kwakwani) destroyed over 2000 cannabis plants among other items at Mille’s Hide Out, Upper Demerara River.
It was reported that ranks, acting on intelligence, went to the location, where they discovered two acres of marijuana under cultivation – about 2000 cannabis plants measuring three to eight feet in height and estimated to weigh about 500 kilograms.

In addition, a nursery with about 200 plants along with two makeshift camps with four hammocks, two mattresses, and a quantity of kitchen utensils were found.
The Police stated that about two miles away from the initial location, another three acres of marijuana with about 3500 cannabis plants measuring two to six feet in height and weighing an estimated 775kg were found. A nursery with about 500 plants was also discovered.
