Police finds ganja floating in trench after intercepting lorry

The Police have launched an investigation into the discovery of a quantity of narcotics in a trench in the vicinity of the Patentia Secondary School, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Thursday morning. The discovery was made at about 06:20h.

Based on information received, on the day in question, Police intercepted a motor lorry driven by a 45-year-old male who resides at Sister’s Village, WBD.

At the time, the lorry was carrying 22 workers in its tray. However, a search was conducted on the driver and workers but nothing illegal was unearthed.

Nevertheless, one of the ranks observed a black plastic bag floating in a nearby trench. The bag was retrieved and upon inspection, a quantity of ganja was found. The driver and the workers were questioned but they all denied ownership.

The cannabis was taken to the La Grange Police Station where it was weighed and amounted to 110 grams. No arrest was made.
