Fake kidnapping

The two Trinidadians implicated in the fake kidnapping of 33-year-old Sawak Maraj on October 27, 2017 are now being hunted by Police.
The men, who have been identified as Anil Antonio Mahabir and Vejhy Ramdass, are wanted for questioning in relation to the “Conspiracy to Commit a Felony”.
They reportedly escaped from the Madewini Resort, Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD) moments before the Police arrived and found Maraj relaxing.
Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the duo is asked to contact the Police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 226-1389, 227-2128, 226-7065, 225-2227, 225-0575, 911 or the nearest Police station. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
Maraj was on Tuesday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
He was charged for giving false information to the Police and conspiring with others to commit a felony.
The three Trinidadians reportedly conspired and attempted to extort US$700,000 from relatives of Maraj by faking his kidnapping.
